Hello Marauders!
This week we're starting our walk from the historic Grade 2 listed Cefn Onn Park on the outskirts of Cardiff which, during late Spring/early Summer, is the best time to visit if you want to see the rhododendrons and azaleas in bloom.
Mike Onda will be leading us on a 5.5 mile circular route which takes us through the park itself and then along tarmac, gravel and grass paths before we reach the high-point. This is a level 6/7 walk on our Marauders Walk Scale.
From the ridges we'll enjoy the fine views over Cardiff and the Severn Estuary towards Flat Holm & Steep Holm. Northwards you'll be looking over Caerphilly and it's castle and, if the weather is fine, as far up as Pen y Fan.
If the climb up to the ridges is too much for anyone you can start the walk with us and stroll around the park for a few hours until we get back down to meet you. The walk around the park is an easy, flat alternative - a level 4/5 on our walk scale.
There is no cafe stop en-route so bring a drink and snack with you to enjoy along the way. We'll finish off the walk with a refreshing drink at The Old Cottage pub!
As usual, wear good shoes and weather appropriate clothing. The walk and park is dog friendly.

8:45 - Pontypridd RFC Car Park
9:20 - Meet at Cefn Onn Park (CF14 0EP)
Free parking available but it can be limited if it's busy.
