About this Event

Join us for a wonderful evening with bestselling authors Cecelia Ahern, in-conversation with Joanna Cannon, to celebrate the release of Cecelia's brand new novel, In A Thousand Different Ways, and the paperback release of A Tidy Ending, by Joanna Cannon.

In A Thousand Different Ways - Cecelia Ahern

'Beautiful, moving, and unexpected, In a Thousand Different Ways is an unforgettable story. This is Cecelia Ahern at her very best' Louise O’Neill, author of Idol

'Cecelia Ahern is a master storyteller at the absolute peak of her powers. Her heroine, Alice Kelly, is completely unique […] and she’ll change the way you see the world' Clare Pooley, author of The Authenticity Project

In A Thousand Different Ways is Cecelia's most thought-provoking novel yet. It introduces the inimitable Alice, a girl growing up in Dublin in a difficult family. Empathetic and highly sensitive, Alice reads others' moods in a heartbeat. But her gift marks her out as disruptive, her high sensitivity labelling her as an oddity. When she flees to London, Alice must figure out how to find her own way. A unique and unforgettable coming-of-age story that explores what it is to belong, and how we treat those who don't.

'It's time to recognise Cecelia Ahern as one of our finest writers' – John Boyne

A Tidy Ending - Joanna Cannon

'Original, macabre and the reveal of the twist made me laugh with shock and delight' - Marian Keyes

'Cannon's shrewd characterisation, sparky observations and subtly menacing plot makes this a darkly funny and delightfully sinister read' - Mail on Sunday

Meet Linda…

Linda lives a nice, normal life, on a nice, normal street with Terry, her perfectly ordinary husband. Linda's not like everyone else, she keeps herself to herself. But she's good at solving puzzles and there are times she sees things other people might have overlooked. Because nothing on Cavendish Avenue is quite as it seems. People have started to go missing in the neighbourhood and Linda will soon discover that some secrets can't stay buried forever…

'Cannon is so attuned to other people's stories… a chronicler both of the human condition and the quotidian details which speak to who we are' Guardian

Cecelia Ahern constantly defies expectations. Ever evolving, she is most recently known for her provocative, mind-bending collection Roar, adapted for TV by Nicole Kidman. She describes herself as 'drawn to the surreal' but anchors her novels with compassion and shrewd observation. With this delicate balance in hand, it's no wonder that she has gathered millions of fans across the globe, having sold over twenty-five million novels.

Joanna Cannon's first two novels, The Trouble with Goats and Sheep and Three Things about Elsie, were both Sunday Times bestsellers and Richard and Judy picks. She is a regular panelist on radio, TV and at literary festivals across the country. Her writing has appeared in the Sunday Telegraph, Daily Mail and the Guardian, amongst others.

Joanna left school at fifteen with one O-level and worked her way through many different jobs before returning to school in her thirties and qualifying as a doctor in her forties. Her work as a psychiatrist and interest in people on the fringes of society continue to inspire her writing.

Her third novel, A Tidy Ending, was published in hardback in April 2022 and explores loneliness, social media, and the sinister side of suburbia.
