About this Event
CE: Foundations of Effective Group Therapy
Join us in person for an engaging 3CE hour course approved by the Ohio CSWMFT Board.
This live continuing education training equips counselors, social workers, and marriage and family therapists with the knowledge and practical skills needed to lead effective therapy groups.
Participants will explore research on group therapy outcomes, Yalom’s therapeutic factors, major group types, and the stages of group development. The training emphasizes building therapeutic alliance, establishing group norms, facilitating here-and-now process, and applying core group leadership skills.
Common group challenges including aggression, avoidance, transference, scapegoating, and monopolizing are addressed alongside ethical considerations such as informed consent, boundaries, and group termination.
Includes skills demonstrations and experiential practice to support real-world clinical application. Suitable for clinicians in outpatient, residential, and community-based settings.
