CCP Certification Program and Exam
CAPA has developed a state-specific, voluntary certification exam for California Paralegals.
To be eligible to sit for the CCP Certification Exam, you must first comply with:
1) Specific program requirements as a California paralegal (CA Residency), and
2) These specific provisions of California’s Business and Professions Code:
BPC §6450 (a) – Paralegal definition – California Attorney Supervision (State Bar Number - Attorney)
BPC §6450 (c)(1) or (c)(2) or (c)(3) –Initial Legal Education Requirements (Certificates, Degree)
BPC §6450 (d) – Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (4.0 Legal Ethics/4.0 General Law Credit Hours every two years – self-reporting requirement, retained and certified to supervising attorney.

CAPA MCLE Compliance Log should be completed for the current 2-yr term (1/2023-1/2025), with completed Certificates of Attendance by a California approved MCLE Provider.
Note: Exam eligibility is determined only after receipt of a completed application and all required supporting documents.
