CCMS Bike Day
About this Event
Our annual Bike Day for middle school students returns!
We feel most middle schoolers are ready to ride to school, safely of course. This day is dedicated to helping the kids learn to navigate streets safely, secure their bikes and even how to incorporate transit into the mix. After introdcutions and skills lessons, they will go on a short bike ride to the Transportation Department for a hands on lesson on using transit, including demonstrations on loading their bikes on the bus
What to expect:
- Learn safe riding skills including rules of the road and e-bike safety
- Helmet safety and proper fitting
- Where and how to properly lock their bikes safely on campus
- How to load their bikes onto buses and how their free transit app works
- Students will receive a free bike helmet, lock, light set.
- Plus a pizza party after, courtesy of Culver CityBus.
Kids should bring a bike in good working order, water and sunscreen. They should wear comfortable clothes appropriate for riding, including closed toe shoes.

Note: This workshop is not a learn to ride workshop. Students should be able to ride on their own. The workshop is designed to teach kids the safe riding skills and independence they need to bike to school on their own. Parents are welcome to attend and observe the skills portion at CCMS. However, space is limited at the transportation department so we ask that you not join the group ride and wait at CCMS for them to return so the kids can focus on our instructors.
Bonus workshop: How to change an inner tube and properly clean a bike chain. After the Bike Day activities, we will have a bonus workshop from 12-1 pm to show kids how to change their inner tube and proper bike maintenance. This workshop is open to all students and parents.
