We have joined forces to bring together a special night from two of the best in the biz…
CCL (BERLIN) and Mike Midnight (Boorloo).
While many DJs approach genre and scope adventurously, few are as expansive and unique as CCL. With an incisively technical and uncannily creative approach to mixing, and a ravenous appetite for music of all kinds, they unite the unimaginable.
As a DIY festival organizer and record collector, drawing from their experiences in Bristol, the DIY scene of Seattle and the American Midwest, CCL has a unique aﬃnity for fluidity and liminality, weaving music together through distinct narratives that open wormholes between all genres and tempos. From their critically acclaimed radio show liquidtime, their event residency Subglow, and through traversing some of the best clubs and festivals worldwide, such as Sustain Release, Draaimolen, Nowadays, Unsound, Bassiani and more. They continue to showcase and further develop their unique take on sonic storytelling with a highly adaptable sense of dancefloor intuition.
Their mix ‘Ode to the Queer Steppas” was named as one of the best mixes of the decade by Resident Advisor. All sounds and energy that manifest from CCL are there to highlight the connectivity of all beings, whether it's through making our bodies sweat, our minds expand, or our hearts feel deeply. Harmonizing and connecting disparate sound into bold and enticing ecosystems is constantly present in their DJ sets–blooming and moulting through a plethora of infectious steppers, psychedelic techno, supple house, dusty 80s synths, glittering footwork, psychedelic post-punk guitars, bubbling drum and bass, twisted dub, and all that lies beyond and between. They've garnered accolades for their adventurous musical vision and knack for tension, storytelling and release.
Accompanying CCL for the night is Mike Midnight, no intro needed, for a send-off, a hug and a hurrah, a tender and lively dance, and a good ol’ stretch of his signature sounds. Before he sets off to share and connect with unfamiliar ears - we are so lucky to have his creative force in our city. Mike's knack for Djing has long standing influences from initial years operating in instrumental grime, time spent in the UK and other forays into dubstep, bass, trip-hop, illbient and purposeful tech & house cuts with tricks of the trade he casts a wide net and has built a magnetic sound. With a unique, considered and enchanting approach to both DJing and composition, Mike's musical touch has been cemented into our minds through countless memorable dancefloor moments, his personal releases, including the EP Angel Hours, have made their way into many hearts, conversations in cars, living rooms, make-out sessions, and moments of reflection, garnering high acclaim. Come down for one last chance (for now) for an extended Mike set, raise a glass and send lots of love his way <3
