Join us for a day to celebrate our community of QMUL GP Educators, be inspired to innovate and develop our community and learn about new opportunities at QMUL to build your profile as an Educator.

The day will consist of lightning presentations, networking exhibition, key-note speakers, awards and interactive workshops.

A) What is unprofessional behaviour? How to act and when to reflect

In this workshop, we will consider our understanding of professionalism and interrogate the role of our own biases. We will provide practical takeaways on best approach to common issues and the MBBS governance structures in place to support this.

B) Is it student burnout? A reflective discussion on rethinking professionalism concerns

This workshop will be based on the idea of burn out - with the primary focus being on medical students - but also for educators. This will be an opportunity to take a different angle when it comes to professionalism concerns - looking at 'Burn out' as a possible reason - how to detect, communicate and escalate. The workshop will be reflective, interactive and aimed at sharing our own experiences and learning.

C) How do we assess Professionalism?

Assessing professionalism remains challenging, yet it is central to medical education and GPs Educators are well equipped to carry it out. This interactive one‑hour workshop explores current evidence on longitudinal, multimodal approaches to assessing professionalism in clinical education. After a brief overview of key research and practical frameworks, participants will work collaboratively to design their own assessment approaches tailored to General Practice contexts. The session emphasises recognising, reinforcing, and rewarding positive professional behaviours rather than focusing solely on reporting or remediating lapses. Drawing on participants’ experience as GP educators, the workshop aims to generate practical, supportive strategies that promote professional identity formation while remaining feasible for everyday supervisory practice settings".

D) The new age of learning with Gen Z

Join us for a dynamic workshop exploring how Gen Z learns, communicates, and engages with the modern workplace. We’ll unpack the evolving concept of ‘professionalism’ and how educators can support students. Expect insights from current trends and real examples that help bridge generational expectations. Perfect for educators preparing learners to thrive in today’s rapidly changing work environments.

E) Professionalism in the digital space (afternoon only)

Ever wondered about the appropriateness of an emoji-loaded work email? Questioned whether a clinical letter was written by generative AI? Seen a student TikTok post about placement? Then join our workshop to consider the shifting values, communication norms, and assumptions we may/may not pass to students. Through a series of interactive activities we will explore how we can better support future doctors to navigate online learning spaces, social media and AI. Your contributions during the workshop will shape the development of a student resource on digital communication expectations, and you will be acknowledged by name in the final guide.
