To open the 9th Comic Book Festival, Illustrators Ireland has selected the most promising indie comic makers from Ireland and France to bring their comics to life. The experience is a fully immersive storytelling event that combines illustration, sound, and live performance in what feels like a cross between theatre and animation.
This year’s performers include Philip Barrett, Fiona Dowling, Kate Escolin, Catherine Foyle, Julien Laloy, Elisabeth Neveux, Mariana Rolin, Melanie Whelan, Eoin Whelehan.
The performance will be followed by a live talk and Q&A moderated by illustrator Karn Harte, and a Book Fair and Signings in the café.
The event will start with a presentation by Claire Prouvost, French painter, graphic artist and muralist, who will talk about her work and the fresco she has created in the reception area of Alliance Française.
