CB1 open mic is back on Sunday 2nd March at the Town and Gown Pub & Theatre - Cambridge. As with all of our guest poets, it will cost £5 Entry on the door. There will be plenty of open mic slots too so you can sign up on the night if you would like to read! Bring a poem or just come to listen to some fantastic poets from around Cambridge. Can’t wait to see you there at 18:30!
Our guest this month is the fabulous Carrie Etter. Carrie's poetry ranges from the linguistically innovative to the elliptical lyric to the verse novel, and she has particular interests in prose poetry, ecopoetry, and poetry engaging with classical mythology. Her first collection, The Tethers (2009), won the London New Poetry Prize for the best first collection published in the UK and Ireland in the preceding two years, and her third collection, Imagined Sons (2014), was shortlisted for The Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry. Her most recent collection, The Weather in Normal (2018), in part addresses the climate crisis, particularly its effects on the American Midwest, and is a Poetry Book Society Recommendation.
