Emerging from Berlin’s club culture, Cats & Breakkies create a sound that dissolves the boundaries between electronic rave and sophisticated live performance. Where DJs typically dominate, they bring musical presence and real-time energy, transforming the room into an emotional and physical collective moment. Their music merges machine and human expression, analog warmth and digital clarity, shaping performances that feel immediate, personal, and deeply engaging.
Their sound has been described as the Pinot Noir of electronic music: warm, dark, elegant, and full of detail. At times it evokes a futuristic big band from the year 2140 — dynamic and full of character. The style moves fluidly between electro, house, krautrock, art rock, fusion, and a subtle jazz lineage, offering both deep listening and ecstatic dance. Beats expand over distance, tension rises, and audiences move together in a shared state of flow.
Following their debut Organic Electro (2015) — co-produced with David August — they were nominated for the Bremen Jazzpreis 2016, leading to performances at notable venues like Kantine am Berghain, Tallinn Music Week, and Fusion Festival. With Spectral (2018) and New World (2024), they distilled their decade-long evolution into a clear vision of contemporary electronic music — rooted in many traditions yet aimed toward the future.
