About this Event

Get ready for an afternoon of music, imagination, and family fun as the Mid‑South Symphonic Band presents its spring concert, Caterpillars & Crescendos! Hosted at the Volkswagen Conference Center, this joyful, family‑friendly performance invites audiences of all ages to experience the excitement and beauty of live symphonic music.

Founded in 1990, the Mid‑South Symphonic Band has become Chattanooga’s premier community concert band, bringing together more than 80 volunteer musicians from across the region. These performers represent a wide variety of backgrounds—professional musicians, educators, college students, retirees, and dedicated community members—coming together to share their passion for music with the public

The ensemble performs under the direction of Conductor Scotty Jones, an accomplished music educator and conductor whose leadership helps shape the band’s expressive, energetic, and engaging sound. Under his baton, the group performs a wide‑ranging repertoire that includes beloved concert band classics, cinematic scores, jazz‑influenced selections, marches, and popular favorites.

Each concert is crafted to be engaging and accessible for everyone, from longtime concertgoers to first‑time listeners. This spring’s program is especially family‑friendly, featuring music that sparks imagination and delights young audiences. Children will enjoy the expressive storytelling, while adults will appreciate the musicians’ artistry and dedication. It’s the perfect creative and uplifting outing for families to enjoy together.

As a volunteer‑driven ensemble, the Mid‑South Symphonic Band is proud to present free concerts across the Chattanooga and North Georgia region, making live symphonic music accessible to everyone in the community. These performances are made possible through the generosity of supporters and the unwavering commitment of the musicians, who donate their time and talent to keep the arts thriving locally.

Mark your calendar, bring the whole family, and join the Mid‑South Symphonic Band for a concert sure to leave you smiling long after the final note.
