Casualty Care — Hemorrhage Control (Stop the Bleed)
Casualty Care — Hemorrhage Control is a hands‑on course that teaches practical skills to recognize and control life‑threatening bleeding. Designed for civilians, volunteers, and staff, the class focuses on rapid assessment, tourniquet application, wound packing, and basic emergency response to reduce preventable deaths in high‑stress situations.
- Recognize life‑threatening hemorrhage and prioritize actions.
- Apply and practice tourniquet use (CAT) and wound packing under stress.
- Conduct rapid casualty assessment and basic scene safety measures.
- Assemble and use an Everyday Carry (EDC) kit and an Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK).
- Understand when and how to coordinate with EMS and transfer care.
Requirements / What to Bring
- Notebook and pen (recommended)
- Comfortable clothing suitable for movement and hands‑on drills (may get dirty)
- CAT tourniquet (if available) for practice—loaner gear provided if needed
- Everyday Carry kit and/or IFAK (if available)
Safety & Scope
- This course focuses exclusively on hemorrhage control and basic casualty care. It does not teach offensive or defensive tactics. Participants should prioritize personal safety and seek professional medical care when required.
