Heritage Open Days are back at Wicksteed Park for 2025!Have you ever wanted to learn more about the park’s water meadow, natural features and our history that extends beyond play? Join us on the 13th or 20th of September 2025 from 10am until 11:30am for a Castle Field guided walk!
Our park rangers will guide you along an immersive route through the tranquil water meadow, where the terrain is uneven and largely unmarked. Along the way, there will be a chance to explore both historic and modern architectural features that tell the story of the site’s evolving landscape.
The highlight of the walk is the Castle Field; a remarkable site steeped in history. Here, you’ll learn about the remains of a medieval manor house, complete with its original moats and a fishpond.
Due to the uneven nature of the terrain, we recommend sturdy and appropriate footwear.
