Casserole + Serving Dish Workshop with Julie Cunningham

In this workshop, students will use high-fire clay to design and build a simple oval serving or casserole dish using slab-building techniques and templates for quick, approachable construction. Participants will learn how to hand-roll a uniform slab as well as how to use the studio slab roller.
You’ll explore shaping a fitted, flat, or slightly domed lid and experiment with a variety of handle styles to give your piece both function and personality. Stamps and texture tools will be available to add unique surface details.
This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with prior clay experience. All tools and clay are included in the workshop fee, though participants are welcome to bring their own tools if preferred.
Finished pieces will be left at the studio to be bisque-fired—a process that hardens the clay and prepares it for glazing—and can be picked up at a later date. For an additional $10 fee, participants may choose one glaze color, and studio staff will complete the glaze firing (final firing).
Please bring snacks, something to drink, clothes or an apron that can get messy, a hand towel—and get ready to create!
