CASA FUTURA: An immersive performance & community dinner

CASA FUTURA is a live performance journey about what it means to build home. This is an immersive story with poetry, dance, sculptures, and a community dinner at Chad Brown, alongside residents. This project is conceptualized and directed by Vatic Astahili Tayari Kuumba, artist-in-residence at Providence Hosuing Authority.

Join us from 5pm - 9pm at Providence Housing Authority (263 Chad Brown Street) for an afternoon of magical realism, live performances, and a community dinner with artists and Chad Brown residents. We start at PHA with performances at the playground and go on a walking procession toward the basketball court. On the way, will stop at a pop-up resident's gallery exhibit and a market of community partners with family friendly activities. At the basketball court, we will experience live video animations, dance performances, music and more.

CASA FUTURA is part of Arts for Everybody, a national campaign on arts & wellbeing by One Nation One Project, engaging artists and culture bearers in18 cities across the United States. These artists are leading projects that prove that art and culture are essential to the health and wellness of people and communities. In Providence, this work is led by poet Sussy Santana and we have two sites: Chad Brown Housing Community (artist in residence Vatic Kuumba) and Caroll Tower community of elders (artist in residence Carolina Briones).
