About this Event
Directed by acclaimed Fano-born Andrea Lodovichetti, this documentary explores the intricate, centuries-old tradition of creating massive, allegorical papier-mâché floats, highlighting the craftsmanship, engineering and creativity of Fano’s master builders. Generation after generation, these artists transform paper, glue and colour into monumental "traveling stages" that blend reality with imagination.
The film frames the carnival not just as a celebration, but as a living archive of community memory and identity. Seen through the eyes of the “Vulón”, the traditional mask of Fano, a child discovers the carnival for the first time, through the parades, costumes and sweets. It aims to capture the "state of mind" that warms the heart of the city, dissolving the boundaries between reality and fiction through the fragile beauty of the papier-mâché sculptures.
Screened in Italian with English subtitles.
