Caroline will share songs and stories from her newest album The Answer. The Answer is collection of songs written during Caroline's “End of War Peace Tour;” a year of performances across the US, Germany, Japan, and Italy in 2025, accompanied by her Banner Gibson guitar, which was made by women during World War II.
The tour honored the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII, and continued carrying out the guitar’s mission of bringing beauty to a troubled world.

Thursday, October 1 at 7:30 PM (doors 7:00 PM). $20 for Mechanics' Hall Members, $25 for General Admission, $200 to Reserve the Couch. No one turned away for lack of funds at the door.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Caroline Cotter’s sunlit songs honor the countless ways of being human. With her honeyed voice and disarmingly honest lyrics, Cotter sings about connection, nostalgia, gratitude, loss and wanderlust. Lyrics like, “Find me somewhere out on the road / Take me into your heart and into your home,” make perfect sense from a touring artist who has been on the road for over a decade playing shows in 46 states and 20 countries.
Cotter has released three records, Dreaming as I Do (2015), Home on the River (2018) and Gently as I Go (2023). In 2025 she spent months crisscrossing the US, two months touring in Germany, two months performing at The World Expo as an artist in residence in Osaka, Japan, and a month touring through Italy on an “End of War Peace Tour” with her WWII era banner Gibson. Under the Radar magazine says her music, “brings forth an abiding sense of warmth and welcome, offering an uplifting reminder to make the most of every moment.” Everywhere she goes, her oracular songs elicit emotion and spark insight—medicine for our collective longing. Two new full length albums, honoring the dark and the light, are set to release in 2026, A Quiet Song of Hope and The Answer.
PARKING & TRANSPORTATION
The Greater Portland Metro’s Congress & Casco Street Stop is directly in front of our building, served by routes 1, 7, 8, and 9B.
Street Parking: Available on Congress, Casco, Cumberland, Free Street, and nearby streets. Pay by meter or the Passport Parking App. Free after 6 PM, on Sundays, and between Parris and Alder Street. Some blocks may vary — look for posted signs.
Garages: The Arts District Garage (41 Brown St) has 250+ spaces, is open 24/7, and accepts credit card only, with entrances on Brown, Cumberland, and Casco. The Elm Street Garage (21 Elm St) is conveniently near the Portland Library. The Spring Street Garage is three blocks away at 45 Spring St.
ACCESSIBILITY
To enter our building, patrons will need to navigate a single step or use a modular ramp. Please note that the wheelchair ramp has a steep incline.
A wheelchair-accessible elevator is available. The elevator is 60" deep, 48" wide, with a 32" door opening. There are four wheelchair-accessible bathrooms on the third-floor level, adjacent to the Ballroom.
