Join us for our Carolina Shag night! Bring in the holiday season with us and learn the state dance!
We've got local Shag dancers Grayson Free & Hannah Surface teaching our beginner lesson from 7-8pm with open dancing from 8-10pm. Cost is $10 for the night, Cash or Venmo at the door. No partner needed and no experience required, the Beginner lesson will start from the basics and get you dancing quick!
Carolina Shag is a style of swing dance and the state dance of both the Carolinas. It has its origins from the beaches near North Myrtle in the 1940s when the teens in the area were dancing the Big Apple and Lindy Hop. The music they were dancing to changed in the late 40s and slowed down and eventually morphed the dance into what we know as Carolina Shag today!
