About this Event
Immerse yourself in the sounds, smells, and tastes of 14th century England this Christmastide. The traditional readings of Lessons and Carols are read in Middle English, from John Wycliffe's 1395 translation of the Bible. The carols, performed by Concordian Dawn with voices and authentic instruments, and by the New York Gregorian Chant Project, are a mixture of 14th and 15th century song and newly-composed music in the idiom of medieval English music. The people's carols are sung in Latin. The Carol Service is followed by a reception of ypocras and sweetmeats.
