We warmly invite you to a rare live performance of Franz Schubert song cycle "Winterreise" at Carnegie Hall (Weill Recital Hall), 8PM on January 28th, 2025 (Tuesday)
This event is held in honor of the 150th anniversary of Schubert’s birth. Irena Portenko, Ukrainian-born pianist, who is based in NY, will be accompanying the renowned Austrian bass, Reinhard Mayr.
A few words about this special performance: Irena have organized two music festivals in Austria: "Music in the Alps", which began in 2013, and "Auf den Spuren von Schubert", established just last year. She first performed "Winterreise" with Reinhard Mayr in the summer of 2024, and was immediately struck by his extraordinary ability to connect with the audience. His profound sense of style and deeply moving interpretation inspired her to bring his unique artistry to a New York audience. This performance offers a fresh and unprecedented perspective on Schubert’s world.
This concert is also dedicated to a meaningful cause.
One portion of the proceeds will be donated to Ukrainian musicians to support a shelter for families, women, and children in Ukraine.
