This extensive choral work is one of the most well-loved and exciting scenic oratorios of the 20th century, with powerful music, driving rhythms, and strong characterization of its colorful text.
The work will be performed in its chamber orchestration for two pianos and percussion and will include three soloists, soprano Sarah Kropski from Chicago, countertenor Jake Johansen and baritone Lucas Wood, both from Galesburg.
Chorus Director Tim Pahel says “we are so excited to be performing Carmina Burana again! The music is so fun and full of life and energy. And our membership went from 40 to 60 singers this semester because we are doing this work! We know that the concert is going to be thrilling.”
