Desta feita, o compositor e saxofonista Carlos Martins, alentejano de gema, pensou diferente e montou um projeto que junta, pela primeira vez na história da nossa cultura, o cante alentejano e os sons do Mediterrâneo com o jazz. Vagar, o álbum que nos traz, fruto do trabalho de um coletivo que foi juntando à sua volta, nasceu da vontade de deixar uma obra global que proponha uma nova abordagem ao cante alentejano, inscita numa visão holística da existência. Um manifesto pela desaceleração, do Alentejo para o mundo.
Renomado músico, produtor e DJ italiano, Nicola Conte chega para apresentar o seu último álbum, Umoja, feito em colaboração com o trombonista Gianluca Petrella e onde encontramos influências das pistas de dança como o disco, o acid jazz ou o house aliadas a referências algo exóticas como o afro-jazz ou a retro soul. Na banda de suporte, os Spiritual Galaxy, além de Petrella e de outros grandes nomes, cabem duas estrelas em ascensão da geração mais jovem de músicos de jazz norte-americanos: o saxofonista Logan Richardson e o trompetista Theo Croker.
This time, composer and saxophonist Carlos Martins, a true son of Alentejo, thought differently and put together a project that, for the first time in the history of our culture, brings together cante alentejano and Mediterranean sounds with jazz. Vagar, the album he presents to us, is the result of the work of a collective he gathered around him, born from the desire to leave behind a global work that proposes a new approach to cante alentejano, rooted in a holistic vision of existence. A manifesto for slowing down, from Alentejo to the world.
Renowned Italian musician, producer, and DJ Nicola Conte arrives to present his latest album, Umoja, created in collaboration with trombonist Gianluca Petrella. In this work, we find influences from the dance floor, such as disco, acid jazz, and house, blended with somewhat exotic references like afro-jazz and retro soul. The supporting band, Spiritual Galaxy, alongside Petrella and other big names, features two rising stars of the younger generation of American jazz musicians: saxophonist Logan Richardson and trumpeter Theo Croker.
