Harry Kollatz Jr. presents meaty and dramatic portions of his novel "Carlisle Montgomery," which is largely set in a grittier 1990s and early 'Aughts Scott's Addition. Books will be available for sale and effusive signing. Who is Carlisle Montgomery? In her own words, she's a "Six-foot-five, redheaded, pigtailed, buck-and-gap-toothed, nine-fingered guitar playing freak."
Carlisle fronts the Live Wires, a bluegrass band with a honky tonk problem they're not trying to fix, and the story follows her assorted and on occasion sordid, adventures and misadventures as she and the band travel the country as purveyors and promulgators of "freak grass," or as Page Wilson described the style, "purebred American mongrel music."
