CARLA FRANCO is a fearless voice in South Africa’s alternative music scene — a Cape Town–based singer-songwriter known for her raw authenticity, genre-bending sound, and emotionally charged live performances. Born with hearing loss in both ears and wearing hearing aids for most of her life, she has never been defined by circumstance; instead, she transforms her experiences into powerful, emotionally rich storytelling.
She debuted in 2022 with CHAPTER I, a deeply personal introduction to her artistry, followed by her critically acclaimed sophomore album LAYERS in 2023 — a genre-spanning project released in three parts featuring 14 songs and multiple local collaborations. The album earned CARLA a South African Music Award (SAMA) nomination for Best Alternative Album and won the Afri-Indie Award for Best Album by an Artist with a Disability, cementing her place among South Africa’s most exciting emerging artists.
With multiple charting singles and national radio support — including collaborations that have reached #1 on major South African stations — CARLA FRANCO continues to build momentum through both her recordings and captivating live performances.
Following the release of her third studio album, A FUNERAL FOR MY GRIEF, FRANCO takes the stage at café Roux in Noordhoek, Cape Town for the very first time. For this special live show she will be accompanied by her respected full band: Marlon Green on drums, Chad Skippers on electric guitar, Ricardo Antha on bass, and Annie Curtin on keys and backing vocals, with FRANCO as the unmistakable front woman.
Her live performances have become known for their unique ability to feel both powerful and deeply personal.
