About this Event
Why does your silver tarnish? What’s eating your rug? Why has your watercolour faded? What can you do about it?
If you’ve ever wondered why your treasures are falling apart, this event is for you! Join Birmingham Museum Trust’s conservation team who will explain why objects fall apart and what you can do to prevent it. The team will demonstrate some techniques you can use to look after your own treasures.
You are welcome to bring photographs of your treasures if you would like advice on how to care for them.
Seating will be provided.
Note that bags will not be permitted inside the studio, but these can be safely stored in the corridor.
Please enter the Museum via the Gas Hall entrance on Edmund Street. You will be collected from the ticket office area and guided to the conservation department.
Wheelchair Access
Lift access is available to the Conservation department, but access is through two narrow doors. A standard size wheelchair does fit, but larger mobility scooters do not fit through the narrow door.
How to get there:
The museum can be reached by train to New Street Station and by buses. There is parking at Snow Hill and Town Hall carparks and on-street around the museum, although this is expensive. A small number of disabled parking spaces are available on Margaret Street.
