Caring for the Caregiver

Caring for someone living with dementia can be both meaningful and demanding, often leading to stress and burnout.

This session focuses on the caregiver and explores how caregiving impacts physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. Participants will learn practical, evidence-based mind–body strategies to help manage stress, build resilience, and support overall wellbeing.

This workshop emphasizes the importance of self-care as an essential part of sustainable caregiving.

Dr. Harmehr Sekhon – Assistant Professor at McGill University and Associate Scientist at St. Mary’s Research Centre, specializing in geriatrics, cognitive health, and digital health research.

The workshop will be delivered in English. There will also be a bilingual Q&A after the presentation.

Être proche aidant d’une personne vivant avec un trouble neurocognitif peut être à la fois gratifiant et exigeant, ce qui entraîne souvent du stress et de l’épuisement.

Cette session est axée sur les proches aidants et examine l’impact de la prestation de soins sur le bien-être physique, émotionnel et mental. Les participants découvriront des stratégies pratiques et fondées sur des données probantes, axées sur le lien corps–esprit, pour les aider à gérer leur stress, à renforcer leur résilience et à favoriser leur bien-être général.

Cet atelier souligne l’importance de prendre soin de soi comme élément essentiel d’une prise en charge durable.

Dre Harmehr Sekhon – Professeure adjointe à Université McGill et chercheuse associée au Centre de recherche St. Mary’s, spécialisée en gériatrie, en santé cognitive et en santé numérique.

L'atelier sera animé en anglais. Une séance de questions-réponses bilingue aura également lieu après la présentation.
