About this Event
Caring for someone with dementia can feel overwhelming—especially when behaviors change, communication gets harder, and everyday tasks take more time. This community education session is designed to give you real, practical tools you can use right away.
In 90 minutes, you’ll learn:
- How dementia impacts memory, judgment, and behavior (and what that means day-to-day)
- Simple communication techniques that reduce stress and resistance
- How to build predictable routines that make mornings, meals, and evenings smoother
- Practical safety tips for the home (wandering, falls, Medic*tion, driving, and emergencies)
- How to respond to common behaviors like agitation, repeated questions, sundowning, and refusal of care
- Local/community resources and a “next steps” plan for your family
You’ll leave with a take-home toolkit: checklists, scripts, and a short action plan you can start using the same day.
Lunch is provided during the session—come hungry and bring your questions.
Note: This session is educational and not medical or legal advice.
Who should attend: Family caregivers, spouses/partners, adult children, friends, neighbors, church/community volunteers, and anyone supporting someone with memory loss.
