About this Event
Join Wellways Carer Gateway for a morning with Kate Strohm, founder of Siblings Australia and Sibs Consulting. Drawing on both professional expertise and lived experience as the sibling of someone with disability, Kate will share practical strategies to help families better support siblings.
After careers as a hospital scientist, journalist and counsellor, Kate established Siblings Australia in 1999 to support siblings of children and adults with disability. Over nearly 25 years she led the organisation in developing resources, presenting across Australia and internationally, and contributing to advocacy, research and policy.
Kate is also the author of Siblings of Children with Disability, which shares her own story alongside the experiences of other siblings growing up with a brother or sister with disability.
This workshop will help parents better understand the concerns of siblings, recognise behaviours that may indicate stress, explore factors that influence sibling adjustment, and feel more confident supporting their children.
What to expect:
- Workshop presentation with Kate Strohm
- Discover Carer Gateway supports and services
- Explore our Toowoomba Carer Gateway Carer Hub
- Free morning tea and connection with other carers
