We’ve put this workshop together to help cat sitters feel more confident and prepared when caring for diabetic cats. The session is led by Dr Kelly Debaene from Mokum Mobile Vet.Kelly is a cat-focused veterinarian with over 15 years of experience in general practice and shelter medicine in the US and the Netherlands. Through her mobile practice she provides personalised, compassionate, low-stress care for cats in their own homes across Amsterdam—giving her a unique perspective that closely aligns with in-home cat-sitting.
*This session if for cat sitters only.*
We cover the essentials: what feline diabetes is, why it matters, and how to recognise symptoms. You’ll learn what your role is as a sitter caring for diabetic cats, how to prepare before a job, and how to safely handle feeding, medication, and monitoring routines. We also go through common situations, how to recognise and respond to emergencies.
The workshop includes practical tips, common mistakes to avoid, a short insulin demo, and time for questions.
The goal is simple: to help you feel calm, capable, and confident caring for diabetic cats, so that more sitters are available for cats with this condition.
