About this Event
Carers Rights Day
The GCU Staff Carers Network is hosting an event for all staff to learn about carers' rights, access helpful resources, and connect with others in similar situations on Carers Right Day, Thursday, November 20.
Come along between 12pm and 2pm and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and have a chat with colleagues with caring responsibilities.
The informal event is an opportunity to find out more about the support available to those with caring responsibilities both within the University and from the Glasgow Carers Team, who will give a short presentation and take part in a Q&A discussion session.
A carer is someone who provides unpaid care by looking after an ill, frail or disabled family member, friend or partner, or someone who needs extra help as they get older. It isn't someone who volunteers or is employed to provide support.
Carers Rights Day takes place annually and aims to make carers aware of their rights, let them know where to get help and support, and raise awareness of the needs of carers. This year’s theme is ‘Know your rights, use your rights’ which focuses on ensuring more carers are aware of their rights and feel empowered to use them.
