About this Event
Caregiver Café: Caregiver Burnout & Respite

Caring for a loved one with dementia can be deeply meaningful, but it can also be exhausting. Many caregivers keep going long after they are tired, overwhelmed, isolated, or running on empty.

This month’s Caregiver Café will focus on caregiver burnout, respite, and realistic ways to create breathing room without waiting for a crisis.

Hosted by Get Care at Home, a Sacramento Favorites award-winning organization specializing in dementia support, Caregiver Café is a free monthly gathering created for family caregivers who need practical tools, local resources, and a place to feel understood.

August Topic: Caregiver Burnout, Respite & Simple Staycations

During this session, we will talk about:

  • How caregiver burnout shows up emotionally, physically, and mentally
  • Why dementia caregiving can feel different from other types of caregiving
  • How to reframe respite as part of the care plan, not a sign of failure
  • Local Sacramento and California resources that may help with caregiver support
  • Simple staycation ideas, including museums, parks, libraries, quiet outings, and virtual museum experiences through Google Arts & Culture
  • How to create a realistic respite plan, even if you only have a few hours

This session is designed for family caregivers, spouses, adult children, friends, and anyone supporting a loved one living with dementia.

You will also have time to connect with other caregivers, ask questions, and learn about community resources.

A Care Planning Check-Up Station will be available for general questions about Medi-Cal, long-term care insurance, VA benefits, and options for paying for care.

This is not a sales event. It is a small, supportive space for caregivers to learn, breathe, connect, and leave with practical information they can use right away.

Lunch is provided at no cost. Space is limited to 15 caregivers.

You do not have to carry this alone.
