About this Event
Do you believe in creating and sustaining a welcoming and inclusive workplace through equity? The Career Equity Conference invites you to elevate your work in diversity, equity, and inclusion through meaningful action and education.
This event offers the opportunity to expand your understanding of what it takes to foster and maintain and inclusive workplace while making connections with key decisionmakers and thought leaders in higher education, human resources, employee engagement, and community engagement. No matter how far you are in this work, the Career Equity Conference is a transformative starting point.

The 2024 Career Equity Conference will be held on Friday, November 22nd in Sargent Hall. If you are interested in attending the conference, we encourage you to register as early as possible to save your spot for the event.
OUR 2024 CONFERENCE KEYNOTE SPEAKER
SEGUN IDOWU, Chief of Economic Opportunity & Inclusion for the City of Boston
A lifelong resident of Boston, Segun is a proud product of the Boston Public Schools. Following his graduation from Boston Latin Academy, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in History at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, and honors from the Phi Beta Kappa and Golden Key Societies.
In April 2020 and 2021, Boston Magazine recognized Segun as one of the “100 Most Influential People in the City of Boston.” In July 2020, the Boston Globe recognized him on the front page of their Sunday edition as a “Man of the Moment” for his work in ramping up The Black Economic Council of Massachusetts’ (BECMA) efforts to advocate for and direct resources to Black businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Globe also honored him as a “Bostonian of the Year” later that December. In 2021, Lawyers for Civil Rights recognized Segun as their “Keeper of the Flame,” and Eastern Bank recognized him as their “2021 COVID Warrior.”
Segun stepped down from his role as BECMA’s CEO in December 2021 in order to join the Wu Administration as the Chief of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion, beginning this role on January 3, 2022. In this new position, he is focused on making Boston a resilient, economically equitable, and vibrant city that centers people and creates opportunities to build generational wealth for all communities.

ACCOMMODATIONS & ON-CAMPUS RESOURCES
Our center intends to provide an inclusive and impactful conference experience for all attendees. Our team has identified the following resources for attendees who may be traveling or visiting Suffolk University for the first time.
• Our campus is in downtown Boston. Please refer to our for directions to Sargent Hall and other on-campus spaces.
• There are several hotels available near Suffolk University’s campus. If you require off-campus accommodations, please refer to our university’s .
• Select Sargent Hall rooms will be dedicated as quiet spaces and will be available for those needing distraction-free time or looking for a quiet co-work space anytime throughout the conference duration.
• Sargent Hall offers a Mother’s Room on the first floor in Room 195. Mother’s Rooms are private spaces with chairs, small tables, lights, a lockable door, and electrical outlets.
• Suffolk University's Interfaith Center in the Sawyer Building (8 Ashburton Place), Rooms 823 and 827, is available for all religious, secular, and spiritual needs. Please visit http://www.suffolk.edu/interfaith for more information.
• Sargent Hall provides single-stall, wheelchair accessible restrooms on the 4th floor. The building offers gender neutral bathrooms on all floors.
