Course Outline:

  • Week 1: The course begins with an Introduction to the CHAPs course, with a focus on developing your Communication and Leadership skills, which are key for teamwork and patient interactions.
  •  Week 2: This week concentrates on Clinical/Basic Observations, with an emphasis on gaining competency, teaching you essential patient monitoring and recording skills.
  •  Week 3: Safer Medic*tion Administration is the focus, where you'll learn practical skills in the safe handling and administration of Medic*tion.
  •  Week 4: The course addresses Care Planning/Record Keeping, along with Handover/Delegation techniques, essential for maintaining quality care continuity.
  •  Week 5: We explore Pressure Area Care and Wound Care, crucial for patient comfort and healing.
  •  Week 6: The course brings awareness to Dysphagia and includes competency training in PEG Feed, critical for assisting patients with swallowing difficulties.
  •  Week 7: You'll learn about Stoma Care and Catheter Care or Catheterisation, depending on your requirements, key skills for maintaining patient dignity and hygiene.
  •  Week 8: We focus on Suction and Diabetes, with a competency aspect. These are important skills in many care settings.
  •  Week 9: Venepuncture, along with a competency assessment, is covered, an essential skill for numerous medical procedures.

 Week 10: The course concludes with Portfolio Submission, Exam, and Final Review, where you'll demonstrate your learning and prepare for certification.
