Care Connect: The "Intermission" – Refueling the Caregiver Book Club Review

Before the "Back to School" rush begins, June is our time to pause. We call this session The Intermission—a moment to check your "fuel gauge" and find ways to protect your peace during the busy summer month.

ALL CAREGIVERS ARE WELCOME AND THE CHILDREN!!

At Jacob Way, we believe that no family should ever face childhood cancer alone. This session is designed to provide you with the mental and emotional tools to keep going, while connecting with a community that truly understands.

Room: Execellence Room

• 📖 Book Review: Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine In Session 2, we’re diving deeper into Gail Honeyman’s moving novel. We’ll discuss Eleanor’s journey from "carefully timetabled isolation" to finding the courage to open her heart. We’ll explore the "Fine" mask we all sometimes wear and how, like Eleanor, we can find strength in unexpected friendships and community support.
• 🌿 Wellness Activity: The "Micro-Joy" Inventory You don’t always have time for a full spa day. We’ll help you identify "micro-joys"—those 5-minute moments (a favorite song, a quick breathing technique, or a quiet cup of coffee) that can instantly shift your mood.
• 🛡️ Support Topic: Setting Summer Boundaries Learn practical strategies for protecting your time and mental energy while the kids are home and schedules are shifting.
• 📍 Peer Connection: Favorite Local Escapes We’re crowdsourcing a list of the best quiet spots in Arlington where caregivers can find a moment of zen.

• 🍎 Light Refreshments: Enjoy snacks and drinks on us while you relax and chat.
• 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Families Welcome: This is a family session! Bring your loved ones along for a supportive, inclusive environment.
• 🎁 Free Resources: Every caregiver will walk away with helpful tools and resources to support their mental health.
• 🤝 Community: Meet other local families walking a similar path in a relaxed, no-pressure setting.
