Carbon emerged from late nights with Robert Munroe and far too early mornings with black coffee and binaural beats. Thoughts of consciousness and Seth Material melded into memories of Isaac Albéniz’s Asturias and Chick Corea’s Spain. Paco de Lucia on vinyl sounds good in the rain. New songs, old stirrings.

Perhaps you remember “We are stardust, we are golden, billion-year-old carbon…" Or, Craig Santos Perez’s riff on Pablo Neruda’s Sonnet XVII “I love you like this because we'll only survive / in the nitrogen-rich compost of our embrace, / so close that your emissions of carbon are mine, / so close that your sea rises with my heat.”

All in all, we walk in beauty.
