Storytelling is at the core of what museums provide, but time and resources can be limited for community museums and smaller cultural organizations. Join the Community Museum Network (MAAM Affiliate)* to learn about why we should be working toward capturing community stories and economical and practical ways you can get started and move your project forward. As a result of this workshop you will learn why stories should be captured; discuss who should be recording; identify easy and inexpensive tools; review recording best practices and rights and permissions; consider distribution; and practice with a new friend. Plus, enjoy a chance to network after the workshop; networking event is included with workshop registration.
*The Community Museum Network is a newly-formed initiative that aims to connect community museums and those wanting to develop more community-driven practices in their organizations.
Workshop: $45 MAAM Members/$60 Non-Members (Community Museum Networking Event included)
