Dive into discovery with our Capt. Scupper’s Kids Club: Community Scientists, presented by The Andersons and supported by the Darrell & Jean Fox Fund. Throughout July, curious young minds and their families are invited to explore the world of science by investigating a question that impacts us all: How healthy is this water? Using hands-on experiments and real-world samples, participants will step into the role of scientists—testing, observing, and uncovering what lies beneath the surface.

What to Expect

Hands-On Experiments: Learn the scientific method of testing water—from forming a hypothesis to analyzing results.
Water Testing in Action: Test Maumee River water using simple tools and guided techniques.
Think Like a Scientist: Ask questions, make predictions, and draw conclusions as you explore how scientists study and protect our Great Lakes.

Additional Details
  • Ideal Ages: 13 and under, but all families are welcome.
  • Cost: Free with museum admission, free for members and Museums for All (families receiving food assistance; thanks to our presenting sponsors UToledo Health and Toledo Refining Company). Registration encouraged!
