No Place Like Home: Songs of Memory, Love, and Return
On this Remembrance Day, CapriCCio Vocal Ensemble explores a timeless question: What does home mean when distance, conflict, and time separate us from the people and places we cherish most?
Through a deeply human musical journey, home becomes far more than a physical place. It becomes memory, identity, longing, love, and the enduring hope of return.
For those who served far from familiar shores, for families who waited in uncertainty, and for those displaced by war and conflict, home was often carried not in geography, but in the heart: a remembered landscape, a loved one's voice, a cherished song, or the promise of reunion.
From the haunting lament of bagpipes and songs of national remembrance, this program journeys through exile, separation, and loss. En Canadien Errant and Byt'svetem vladla give voice to displacement and uncertainty, while the poignant strains of Schindler's List remind us of lives forever altered by war. In Danny Boy and The Road Home, we encounter the ache of farewell and the powerful pull of memory, while Indodana and Let My Love Be Heard reflect the sacrifices made by those who served and the loved ones they left behind.
Yet remembrance is not only about loss. It is also about resilience, hope, and the enduring ties that bind us together. In I'll Be On My Way and Homeward Bound, the journey turns toward renewal and return, affirming the human capacity to persevere through hardship and find our way back to one another.
As the concert concludes, audiences are invited to join in collective remembrance through songs that have connected generations. Together, we honour not only those who served, but also the families, communities, and memories that sustained them. We reflect on the universal desire for peace, belonging, and a place—or a person—to call home.
No Place Like Home is both an act of remembrance and an affirmation of hope: a tribute to lives shaped by war, and a celebration of the enduring power of love, memory, and return.
