Capital Sessions at the NAC featuring Dancer Edz Gyamfi and DJ Jervy Jerv

Capital Sessions is back at the NAC on June 28th from 1:30 to 3:30 PM with our final event of the season featuring Toronto-based dancer Edz Gyamfi and DJ Jervy Jerv! It's a free community house dance practice brought to you by Tangent and Rise Ashen! The DJ plays deep soulful house for 2 hours straight and there are two 30-minute workshops (at 1:30 and 2:30) by our guest dancers. The instruction is visual (no screaming 1-2-3-4) and the class portion is optional, you can do you, or learn some steps! You can hang out, there's seating, an awesome cafe, great family-friendly house music and an awesome community vibe. It's a rare chance to learn some house dance steps from an amazing dancer and hear the freshest new global house music played by a world-class DJ on a great soundsystem! Come share-vibe and enjoy the music! Did I mention it's FREE??? Edz Gyamfi
Edmund “Edz” Gyamfi better known by his stage name Edz Gyamfi, is a Ghanaian-Canadian dancer and choreographer from Ottawa, Ontario Canada. His main dance styles consist of Hip Hop, Dancehall & Afro Dance.
Edz has devoted his studies and travel to places like Jamaica, New York & L.A along with taking virtual programs. He has trained and studied with Commercial Industry Leaders such as world renowned Commercial Choreographers Rhapsody James, Luam Kyflegy and Galen Hooks. He’s also trained with Street Dance OGs & creators in Buddha Stretch, Popping Pete, Link FC, Anthony Thomas, Chrybaby, HypeGirl & Mr.YouTube.
Furthermore, Edz has had the opportunity to also learn and train from Professor Orville (Dancexpressionz), DHevolution by BlingEvo, Dancehall Vybz Spirit, Black Eagles, Overload Skankaz, Dynamic Legends, "Korie" Genius, Zidan- from Xqlusiv Dance Crew and many more.
He will be blessing us with some of his encyclopedic knowledge of dance, sharing moves that translate well to house music!

Jervy Jerv
Jervin “Jervy Jerv” Francisco is a seasoned DJ from Ottawa, Canada, with over 20 years of experience in the game. A former Bboy turned turntablist, he made his mark in the DJ battle scene by placing 3rd in DMC Ottawa (2016). Specializing in Bboy battles, he’s been a staple in the Bboy/ Bgirl communities of Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto, bringing raw energy to competitions. Inspired by legends like DJ Qbert, DJ Premier, and DJ Babu, Jervy Jerv is deeply rooted in boom bap and the golden era of hip-hop, keeping the culture alive with every set. He will be blessing us with a rare house music set!
