The five Capital Region community colleges—Adirondack, Columbia-Greene, Fulton-Montgomery, Hudson Valley, and Schenectady—invite faculty, administrators, instructional designers, and K–12 partners to participate in the Capital Region Community College AI Symposium. Hosted by Hudson Valley Community College, the event focuses on the responsible and practical use of artificial intelligence in community colleges.
Whether you are enthusiastic about artificial intelligence, uncertain about its place in higher education, or somewhere in between, this symposium is designed with you in mind. Bringing together educators and leaders from across the Capital Region, the symposium offers an opportunity to step back, think critically, and engage in candid conversations about one of the most significant shifts in education in a generation.
What to Expect
The day will feature engaging programming across a range of topics, including:
- A lightning round featuring short, idea-sparking presentations
- Breakout panels on AI literacy, course redesign, ethics and bias, assessment integrity, campus policy, and more
- A keynote highlighting systemwide AI initiatives, policy developments, and resources available to campuses, presented by Kim Scalzo, interim senior associate provost of digital innovation and academic services at SUNY System
- No cost to attend
- Lunch provided
Why Attend?
Artificial intelligence is raising real questions for community college educators and administrators—from academic integrity and course design to student readiness, institutional policy, and the values we bring to these tools. This symposium provides a space to wrestle with those questions alongside colleagues who are asking the same ones. All perspectives are welcome.
