About this Event
Course Description:
Much like your critical work at Georgetown planning for students and improving the world of academia, changes to our campus’s built environment also involves thoughtful preparation and planning. Capital Projects 101 introduces you to the process of requesting and initiating a capital project at Georgetown. Examples of Capital Projects may include but are not limited to: building improvements and expansions, space renovations, new furniture, building signage, or real estate leases.
This session will also share important upcoming deadlines for submitting Capital Projects requests for the upcoming Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26). Project requests are due to Capital Projects on October 18, 2024. The in-person training will be followed by a tour of the Office of Student Equity and Inclusion (OSEI space), recently completed by the Capital Projects team.
What happens next? Once the Capital Projects team receives all requests, we will partner with you to create project charters that define scope, schedule, and budget to meet your objectives and goals. These charters will go through a vetting and approval process with the Advisory and Governance Committee that will wrap up in early 2025. The approved project information will equip the finance team to prepare for the financial needs of the university and gear up for FY26 project activity. Simultaneously, Capital Projects will prepare our resources to successfully deliver the project in the coming fiscal year.
Audience and Format:
This workshop is geared towards anyone in the Georgetown University community who would like to make a change to the physical environment for their official responsibilities in their role. This training is hosted and facilitated by the Capital Projects team in Planning and Facilities Management, in partnership with the HR Learning and Development team.
Accessibility:
Please use the accommodations question in the registration form to notify us of any accommodations you require to ensure an effective learning environment. A good faith effort will be made to address any requests made less than 48 hours prior to the session date. Prior to the session we will send you an email with information on how to prepare.
