About this Event
Capacity Building for Intergenerational Collaboration and SIDS Youth Empowerment on Climate and Ocean Action
Time: 1:00 - 3:00 pm
Location: 777 United Nations Plaza, 10th floor Conference Room
We invite you to join us for this special program on Monday, September 23rd, held together with government partners, UN delegates and civil society. Acknowledging that as laid out in the Pact for the Future “Environmental crises pose the most pressing and serious threats to the sustainability of our planet and the well-being of its present and future inhabitants and have disproportionate effects on developing countries”, Peace Boat will co-organize a side event during the United Nations Summit of the Future focused on engagement and empowerment for ocean and climate action for youth, in particular from Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
The side event is co-sponsored by the UN Permanent Missions of Saint Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, and Kiribati to showcase the important role of youth in scaling up ocean action, in particular youth from SIDS on the front lines of the ocean and climate crises. Stocktaking successes and challenges, it will look towards further developments and collaborations for empowerment and engagement of youth including with the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
