As part of CAP's 60th Anniversary, we are screening three films over the next several months. Our second film titled "Fighting Hunger, Feeding Hope" will be screened on Nov. 19, 2024, in the Farish Theater at Central Library in Lexington, KY. Following the film will be a panel discussion on its themes and relevant topics. Film synopsis:
According to Feeding America, one in six children in Kentucky faces hunger. That food insecurity rate is higher than the national average. In the Appalachian region, things are even worse with one in five children struggling with food insecurity. The situation is even more dire In CAP's service area in Eastern Kentucky where one in four children is hungry. Additionally, seniors living in isolation are also challenged by not having enough nutritious food. This short film spotlights advocates seeking to address food insecurity on a large scale as well as locally in states and communities, and the ways Christian Appalachian Project has responded to this critical issue.
