Canvas Painting

Canvas painting is the art of creating artwork on canvas—a strong fabric usually made of linen or cotton—stretched over a wooden frame and primed so paint adheres properly.

Common paint types used are oil (slow-drying, rich and luminous), acrylic (fast drying, versatile), and sometimes watercolour or mixed media depending on desired texture and effect.

Canvas painting has been a major medium since the Renaissance, replacing wood panels for large works because it`s lighter, more flexible, and easier to transport.
