Happy Yule! At this time of year we like to look back and reflect on what we've experienced in the old year before welcoming in the new, and what better way to do that with our SCA family!
We will be hosting a Yule/Christmas celebration on December 12th to combine our monthly business and potluck meetings.
There will be a potluck, with people arriving and partaking of holiday treats from 6:30 onwards.
At 7:00 we will host our business meeting in the form of a collaborative discussion of what went well this year, what we would like to improve, and what we look forward to next year. For those not wanting to participate in verbal discussion there will be a "thoughts jar" for people to submit suggestions and intentions to, for the Canton.
Afterwards I invite anyone who wants to share the holiday traditions of their persona to do so!
As my persona is Japanese I will be sharing some holiday traditions from Japan to those who are interested, including a small take home craft!
And for those who enjoy exchanging gifts we will be doing a Jolabokaflod - in keeping with the Norse traditions - which is a book exchange. Bring a new book or a beloved favorite, wrapped in Holiday paper. I will number it and it will go in a pile.
Towards the end of the night, anyone who brought a book will exchange the books at random (number is to ensure you don't get your own book!) and go home with a new book to enjoy during the cold winter nights!
