It’s time to celebrate Canopy Atlanta’s upcoming storytelling project in one of Atlanta’s most esteemed Black communities.

Join us at 11 a.m. Friday, February 7 at C.T. Martin Natatorium and Recreation Center for some insightful conversation, delectable lunch and fellowship at the Canopy Atlanta Collier Heights Community Social.

In late 2024, Canopy Atlanta’s community listening team spent time interviewing nearly 100 residents in the serene westside neighborhood, which is one of Georgia’s largest communities recognized on the National Register of Historic Places. With the continued help of residents, we will soon publish stories of all formats to highlight the history and uplift the current and future needs of Collier Heights.

The Community Social will be a chance to continue the conversations with the community, share insights from our listening report, and introduce Canopy Atlanta’s work to redefine who journalism is by and for. Plus, we’ll top this enlightening afternoon off with music, prizes and food, catered by Collier Heights’ own Jason Aaron, owner of Da Pig, the Cow and the Chicken.
