About this Event

Join the ICAA WMA for an exclusive premier of the film Canonical Classicism: The Life and Work of Allan Greenberg Film Trailer.

Allan Greenberg helped lead the revival of classical architecture in the mid-1970s. He stands out for his robust designs and high craftsmanship. According to Paul Goldberger, architecture critic for The New York Times, Allan's “life’s work has been a mission to establish the validity of classicism as an architectural language in our time.” In addition to his architecture, Allan’s articles, teaching, and lectures have exerted a strong influence on the study and practice of contemporary classicism. He has always prioritized education, and that is the primary focus of this film.

In 2006, he was the first American to be awarded the Richard H. Driehaus Prize for Classical Architecture in recognition of his major contributions to architectural design and scholarship. The prize is awarded annually "to a living architect whose work embodies the principles of traditional and classical architecture and urbanism in contemporary society and creates a positive, long-lasting cultural, environmental, and artistic impact."

Allan Greenberg will be making a virtual appearance before the film, followed by a moderated discussion with Duncan Stroik and panelists Stephen Chrisman and Michael Imber afterward.

Refreshments will be served.
