Festa Italiana North Carolina is eager to announce that for the first time, we are hosting a Cannoli Eating Contest! The contest is sponsored by Mr. Cannoli NC & Sweets, and will be judged by Apex Mayor Jacques Gilbert and a special celebrity guest! (announcement coming soon)
The contest will begin at 3:30 PM at La Cucina Galbani Cooking Stage.
Contestants: 8 who will register in advance and be pulled from a drawing. Details on how to register coming soon!
Waivers: Must be 18 years of age or older to participate and sign a waiver.
Cannoli set up: 12 mini-cannoli served in a tray for each contestant
Timing: How many mini-cannoli can a contestant eat within 120 seconds.
Prizes: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will receive a Tri-color lanyard with a medallion
**Ruggero Fratarcangeli: The heart behind Mr. Cannoli NC & Sweets, where timeless recipes meet entrepreneurial excellence**.
Born in in the charming town of Frosinone, Italy, approximately 50 miles southeast of Rome, Italy, Ruggero moved to the United States at a young age and was raised in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx, New York. It was there, in the heart of Little Italy, that he began his culinary career, working as a baker for the renowned Artuso’s Pastry Shop.
Now based in North Carolina, Ruggero is the proud founder and owner of Mr. Cannoli NC & Sweets, together with his lovely wife Vita from Sicily, and their four wonderful children.
Keeping the family’s traditional recipes alive, with a soul of Sicily and a Bronx twist, Ruggero and Vita bring their love for authentic Sicilian Cannoli to the Carolinas!
A graduate of Bernard Baruch College NYC in International Marketing and Psychology, Ruggero also brings over 30 years of professional experience in Sales & Marketing, Training, Coaching, and Motivational Speaking, blending business acumen with a lifelong passion for pastry.
