Join us for a hands-on workshop exploring the timeless art of canning and pickling! This experience is perfect for anyone interested in preserving seasonal foods, building practical kitchen skills, and learning how to stock their pantry with homemade staples.
Together, we’ll explore the fundamentals of safe home food preservation, including the principles behind water-bath canning, pickling, acidity, storage, and food safety. We’ll discuss equipment, ingredient selection, troubleshooting, and ways to adapt recipes using seasonal produce and local ingredients.
During the hands-on portion of the workshop, participants will assist in preparing and preserving a small variety of canned and pickled foods while learning practical techniques that can be confidently repeated at home. Along the way, we’ll discuss flavour combinations, preservation methods, and creative ways to make use of garden harvests and seasonal abundance.
We’ll share a lunch together and leave time for questions and discussion. Participants will leave with recipes, practical knowledge, and a jar of preserved goods to take home.
Lunch & other refreshments are provided.
