Candlelight Chamber Music Performance

Candlelight Chamber is a study of contrasts. The elegance of orchestral instrumentation meets the wily ways of contemporary improvisation. This is chamber music like you've never heard before- Sumptuous, free, and spontaneous.

Crossing the planes of geography and history, our performers draw from the rich traditions of European (Resonant Edge) and Indian classical (Providence) music. The revolutionary spirit and acoustics within the iconic Christ Church, are an ideal match for this unique program from the People's Music Supply.

Headliners:

Anjali Shinde- Flute/Piccolo/Slide Whistle: is an Ensemble Connect fellow with Carnegie Hall.

Aaron Pond-Horn/Vocals/Wood Flutes/Slide Whistle: is a prolific hornist whose improvisations which entangle improvisation and gnosticism. He is the president of People's Music Supply and performs regularly with Toshi Makihara, Karen Smith, Dan Blacksberg, and more.

Sonali Singh- Bassoon/Vocals/Drums: is a music therapist and bassoonist, known for her wily interpretations of the classical tradition.

Mekhi Gladden- Oboe/Clarinet/Percussion: is a graduate of the Curtis Institute and a regular substitute for America's top woodwind quintet- Imani Winds. They are interested in the through line between care and expression. They exist in the explorative spaces of classical music, free improvisation, medicine, African American social philosophy, and gender euphoria. They long for self actualization through community with the hopes of being able to support and care through medicine and expressive arts. They are a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and have performed with Imani Winds and chamber groups all over Pennsylvania and South Jersey.

The admissions from this performance will directly support the artists involved and the continued preservation of Christ Church's historic sites.
